Sunset River Marketplace art gallery is located in historic Calabash, NC, just minutes from Brunswick Island, NC and Myrtle Beach, SC. From Dior's Paris to Calabash:
Vintage Fashion Drawings by George Gerald Davis
April 29 - June 15, 2013

After studying fashion design at Richmond Professional Institute, now Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), George Gerald Davis lived in Paris studying fashion illustration at Cours Bercot, Dessin De Mode. He became an apprentice with a modeliste of Christian Dior in order to study draping and design. Some of these early fashion drawings along with recent illustrations and Gerry's hysterical embellished shoes are included in this unique show.

Sunset River Marketplace is a vibrant exciting gallery located in the historic fishing village of Calabash, North Carolina. The uber-creative space invites artists and collectors to explore the displays that make up 10,000-plus square feet of fine arts and crafts.

Showcasing only artists from the two Carolinas, this eclectic gallery boasts an amazing offering of clay art and pottery; oil paintings, watercolors, mixed media, pastels and acrylics; plus award-winning metalworks, wood pieces, hand-blown glass, fiber art, artisan-made jewelry and more. Since opening in 2002, Sunset River Marketplace has become a popular destination for visitors, a gathering place for artists and a center of the community.

Located onsite are a pottery studio, complete with two kilns; a custom master framing department; and art classrooms for workshops and ongoing instruction. Please stop by for a cup of gourmet coffee or tea, or enjoy a glass of wine at one of the bistro tables. Or better yet, carry it with you as you meander through this warm comfortable space.

Sunset River Marketplace, the eclectic art gallery in Calabash, N.C. will present Ruth Cox: Works In Oil from January 7 through February 16. The exhibition will feature 30-plus paintings by the prolific Myrtle Beach, S.C. artist. Sunset River Marketplace, the eclectic art gallery in Calabash, N.C. is hosting Brunswick Arts Council’s 2012 Fall Show & Sale, which was judged yesterday, Sunday, Oct. 7 and opened to the public today, Oct. 8. Ginny Lassiter has announced that the next Creative After Hours project at Sunset River Marketplace, her Calabash, N.C. art gallery, will be to paint a small seascape. “Our Creative After Hours events have turned into a lot of fun,” Lassiter laughs. “We invite folks to come by after work (with their favorite bottle of wine). And we supply everything else: snacks, acrylic paints, canvases, instruction and any other materials. One week we did wine bottle paintings; another time we painted sunflowers. Next week, by request, we’re painting seascapes. In fact, we’ve had such a big response, we've added a second day.”

Sunset River Marketplace, the eclectic Calabash art gallery, is featuring a group show entitled, 99% Cotton, which depicts Carolina cotton fields in watercolor, oil and acrylic.
