Kathryn Finkbiner Turnauer is a native of Lancaster County, PA. She received her Bachelor and Master of Science Degrees in Art Education from Kutztown University in Pennsylvania and for 32 years taught art and was an art administrator at the public school and university levels in Montgomery County and Radford, VA.
Since retiring from a career in art education in 2003, and moving to the Cherry Grove section of North Myrtle Beach, she has concentrated on fused glass. Her work evolved into fusing from many years working with copper foil and leaded stained glass. She has pursued advanced training in fused glass techniques with instruction under Brad and Jodi Danner Walker at Warm Glass Studios in Clemmons, NC.
Recent recognition includes Honorable Mention at the Seacoast Artist Guild Fall 2013 Juried Show, and a 2014 Artist in Residence Grant at Cheraw State Park, SC.
I am fascinated with color and light. Fused glass allows me spontaneity, while developing organic forms based on original drawings and plans, layering glass and frit to create depth of color and texture.
