Melanie Heinrich designs and creates fine crafts using organic materials such as wood, stone, granite, metal, glass and other exotic materials. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Rochester Institute of Technology and possesses two masters degrees in fine art. Heinrich is also a retired University professor where she headed the photography department.
The artist says, “There is an inherent natural beauty in the materials that allows me to create utilitarian, one-of-a-kind pieces.” Her interest in lamps has been encouraged by her world travels and her love of architecture.
Her unique stained glass fireplace screens also often incorporate agates, crystals and unique transparent images printed on rice paper.
