Michael Gordon works in a range of media. He creates original prints and innovative multi-canvas mixed media pieces. Born in Chicago, Michael has lived in New York for much of his life before relocating to Calabash, NC.
The artist considers himself mostly self-taught, however he has studied in London, Paris and Ottawa. He was an artist and printmaker out of his own print studio and gallery in New York. He studied at Irwin Hollander’s workshop at Chrystie Street in New York City, where artists such as Pierre Alechinsky, Robert Motherwell, Esteban Vicente and Jim Dine went to create original lithographs. Years later Michael collaborated with Hollander on a series of original prints that were ultimately shown at Salon de Vanves outside Paris.
According to the artist, he likes to work in series, such as his Robes, which are here at the gallery.
