Rachel Sunnell

Rachel’s love of art, and nature led her to paint and to landscape architecture. Her design background can often be seen in her work through distant views, layering and sense of color.  As an acrylic painter, Rachel uses loose brush strokes and color that evoke the idea of subjective realism. This refers to the reality inside the viewer’s mind that may trigger a memory or a feeling. She is particularly interested in capturing the beauty of light and movement. She is a graduate of Rhode Island School of Design with a Bachelor of Fine Arts and Bachelor of Landscape Architecture.

Artist Statement

The Act of painting is very personal and often takes great courage to expose our self to the world.  I strive to capture something that may evoke a memory or deep feeling.  It may be calmness or emotional energy.
