Choose from two sessions:
This class is for people who have some experience with oil painting, and a sincere desire to learn. A table easel or standing easel is necessary, along with whatever oil painting supplies and equipment you already have. Please, no turpentine or smelly solvents. I recommend Golden’s Gamsol odorless brush cleaner, which is really odorless.
The class will be about composition, color and value relationships, and drawing and painting from life. We will do small quick studies. We will have a model or a still life setup for each class. You may bring your own setups. No copying from photographs, please.
I will give a demonstration at the beginning of each class, if desired. Individual help and suggestions will be given during class time.
This is NOT one of those classes where the teacher does all the work for you and sends you home with a completed masterpiece! Loosen up. Expect frustration and failures that teach you something, and also expect moments that make you say “Aha!” Expect to learn things that will help you critique and improve your own work.
